Accessorize It Up!

Where is your phone? Probably in your hand or on the charger. We never let them stray too far from sight. Our phones have become a permanent body part and with all the new accessories that are coming out, we no longer have to be apart from our phones, ever! A new line of cell phone accessories called Jellyfish has arrived to the tech world and I am OBSESSED!

Check it out, there’s this portable charger that can be used anywhere! How often are you out and about and have nowhere to charge your phone and you can just see the red battery haunting you? It’s pure torture!  Now with this charger you don’t have to panic anymore. It’s totally awesome!

Next is the amazing headphones and wristlet case that fits on to my iPhone 5 and perfectly. I have been using mine when I am hiking. I don’t have hold my phone while I walk and listen to music. You need this while you are hiking and then heading to get your post workout juice.

Last, but not least is my favorite. The speaker that hooks up to any phone and plays my music nice and loud. It’s compact so I can keep it in my purse if I wanted to. It also acts as a speaker if I am using the speakerphone to talk to someone.

These three things are making my life easier and who doesn’t love an easy day? But it doesn’t stop there, check out their website to find tons of other great accessories. Go get your Jellyfish products at jellyfishbuzz.com to make your life a little more convenient.

TT: DENIM ON DENIM!

Who remembers the famous picture of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake wearing all denim? I know I do! Who could forget that amazing moment of ALL denim! If not, here it is. :)

This trend has made its comeback once again! Even though denim is an endless trend it does not lose its importance and because of its changeability it is a definite must have for every girls wardrobe. Every year fashion designers give it a little twist by mixing different denim washes, adding studs, sequins, chains, patches, etc. Below is the Guess campaign photo showing different ways of wearing denim on denim.

We saw this on the runway including designers such as House of Holland, Jonathan Simkhai and Diesel, Black Gold. So everyone, lets get adventurous! Don't be afraid to pair denim with denim!

MM: OH BLUE EYES!

Frank Sinatra was known for his impeccable blue eyes, but this MakeOver Monday we are setting this story straight-- because BLUE EYESHADOW is IN!

Don't worry, if you follow our simple steps, you won't have to worry about looking like the character Mimi on Drew Carey back in the day.
Simple elements of this icy hue can leave you batting your eyelashes for more. The key to this trend is to stick with one shade and keep the positioning simple.

Start Singing the BLUES: How to Wear This Hue-

  • A light blue shadow can be striking as a highlight in the corners of the eyes and can make the basic brown eyes sparkle.
  • More bold? Try cerulean on the lid with a simple liner on the top and a little mascara to finish the look. Keep the lip neutral and the cheekbones light.
  • Looking to simplify? A light baby blue on the lids can add just the right touch of romance to a folklore inspired look.

FF: THE LURE OF FOLK

Some call it hippy, others call it BoHo-chic, and even some say gypsy, no matter how what you call it, there is always an alluring touch of it every season.

SS 2014 is no different. The name is Folklore, but the tapestry, full skirts, A-line silhouettes and eye-lit details are still the same. A more reformed gypsy if you will. This style suits the free-spirited woman who's closet is full of Free People and Haute Hippie.

Even the slightest crop top and off the shoulder top demonstrates these key elements. And Coachella fans alike will be flocking in herds to grab a piece of these peaceful and playful ensembles.

Florals, tapestry prints and embroidery flourished on the catwalks at Antonio Marras, Matthew Williamson, and Valentino at NYFW shows.

Pair them with sweet T-strap heels or a mid-calf boot with a dress to be effortlessly chic.

TT: STEAL THE LOOK: Mad About Plaid

STEAL Ri Ri's PLAID LOOK.

What You'll Need:

  • Your favorite Plaid Button-Up
  • White cropped tank
  • White/Metallic Skirt w/ Slit (if it doesn't have one, get creative with your local tailor to add just the right amount of skin.)
  • Chucks
  • Suspenders
  • Snapback
  • Studded wide belt
Rihanna is a definite trendsetter and stealing this look off the runway and making it her own is SEXY.

If you are thinking you have seen this style before, you would be correct, it was in the 90's. Don't believe us? Take a look at this photo from the 90's hit tv series "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air". Will Smith's love interest use to dress just like this. Who knew she would start a trend over a decade later. :)

Shoeday Tuesday: SHOE NIRVANA

It certainly smells like Teen Spirit when you watch the AW runway shows. Transport back in time when Seattle's rock scene was in full force and we couldn't get enough of plaid.

AW'14 embrace complete SHOE NIRVANA with the same inspired rocker combat-like boots we all indulged in in the 90's. I remember wearing my plaid pleated skirt, with my knee high socks and combat boots and my best friend rocking her short shorts with her favorite pair of Dock Martens.

Fast forward to 2014 and the color palette becomes muted in the shoe-world and our obsession with 90's nostalgia rages on. From dresses to jeans, these punk/rock kicks will have you zoned out to a simpler time. And although we miss Kurt Cobain's voice, it still echoes the sentiments of his legacy with the return of misfit dressing.

Makeover Monday: #BeautybyPivotal

Beauty, what more can you say? On this glorious Makeover Monday, we have to say THANK YOU to the lovely ladies over at Pivotal PR for such an amazing Pre-Valentine's Day Beauty Day last week and show you some of their new lines and how we were pampered at the gorgeous Sofitel Hotel.

Talk about attention to detail! This Beauty & Style suite left no stone unturned, from Skinnygirl Prosecco served upon entrance, to the cute heart candies & cupcakes, it was like being in the sweetest salon ever!

Blowouts & makeup application and even lashes and manicures, if you can dream of a perfect
pampering day, it was there.

We were introduced to the beautiful ORG spray-on exfoliator and let me tell you, not only does it smell so clean, but it literally exfoliates the dirt & toxins from your skin without the harsh abrasion of the beads. (This product is organic and there is no gritty texture and it's super easy to use.) Just a few sprays and it's an instant facial.

Now that my face was clean, it was time for hair and makeup. Joico did amazing blow outs and
styling. And I was treated to the most beautiful makeup ever by a talented makeup artist @yeslin_mua and the most insane lashes by @lolavlashes.

I brought my good friend and celeb stylist Renee Hall with me to the suite because we both work so

incredibly hard that we deserved a lil R&R.

Aside from the incredible beauty products, Pivotal PR also showcased some of their other amazing fashion brands. There were dresses by MLV and clothes by Calvin Rucker.

I fell head over heels in love with this smokey topaz ring by Alberto Parada. Sensational is an understatement. This is the kind-of-ring that can make a girl fall in love. Maybe Marilyn had it wrong when she said Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend, when all gemstones are our friends, that's for sure.

Pivotal clients that participated: Mika Fowler, Joico, Just Extensions, Lola V Lashes, ORG Skincare, MLV, Calvin Rucker, Alberto Parada Jewelry, Love Detailed, Sidecar and Max Daniels; with WHET nails and Nails By Melissa Bozant and Skinny Girl Prosecco.

THROWBACK THURSDAY WILL MAKE YA, JUMP! JUMP-SUIT!

Marc by Marc Jacobs SS14
JUMP! JUMP-SUIT!
MARC BY MARC JACOBS WILL MAKE YOU JUMP, JUMP!
EDUN WILL MAKE YOU JUMP, JUMP!
DVF WILL MAKE YOU JUMP, JUMP!

Spring/Summer 2014 was all about the JUMPSUIT! We all remember those catchy 90's lyrics, well don't worry Kriss Kross isn't making it's triumphant return, but the jumpsuit is!

The classic, comfy one-piece graced the catwalks at NYFW with an updated splash. This is not your auto-mechanics one piece, that's for sure.

Team Ferrara knew this trend was going to be set in motion and put TBozz of TLC in a one piece Barbara Bui jumpsuit at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards last year.

Which jumpsuit style best suits you?

DVF SS14
Tips on How to Keep the Jumpsuit Sexy:
  • Find a jumpsuit that FITS your body shape.
  • Hourglass figure, emphasize with a thin belt.
  • Pear shape, try a lower belt right above the hips.
  • Don't over accessorize, less is more.

MW: CHECK, MATE!

Checkers aren't just meant to be played with your family on vacation. Fellas, this year add this bold pattern to spruce up your wardrobe. Mix and match the monochromatic checks with a neutral like white, black, navy, or tan, or if you dare, push the boundaries by mixing patterns.

Tip for mixing checkered print:

  • Start with the larger checkered on top and balance with a vertical stripe or a smaller pattern on the bottom.
  • Same size checkered works if the fabric matches! Beware!
  • A solid colored blazer over a busy checkered shirt can instantly make you look leaner. (Visual illusion, it brings your eyes to the pattern, not your shape or size.)

SHOES-DAY TUESDAY: WALKING ON SUNSHINE

Brighten up your shoe game this spring with YELLOW! This electric pop of color may intimidate some, but don't let this sunny hue fool you. Just the right amount will have your outfit beaming.

Shoes are a work of art all in themselves and this season is no different. Whether it's the arched heel from Walter Steiger to the art-deco gladiator or the color blocking mosaic bootie by Sergio Rossi, highlight your tootsies!

Rules on how to wear:

  • Make the shoe the statement.
  • Navy blue always makes yellow classy, try pairing a striped t-shirt & navy blue blazer and white shorts.
Strut your stuff this beautiful Shoes-day Tuesday! xoxo

Makeover Monday: Pucker Up

We are at it again for Makeover Monday, where you will find beauty tips and tricks. This week we are talking about my most favorite thing: lips. So get ready to pucker up!

First things first!  Before even attempting to apply any kind of lipstick, you need to make sure that your lips are conditioned and absolutely no, and I mean NO cracks. Ain’t nobody want to smooch that.

Before heading to bed take Lush Lip Scrub (Bubblegum flavor) and exfoliate your lips. Be gentle while doing this. After a minute of using the scrub, lick it right off your lips. That’s right, I said lick. This sugary scrub is edible and tastes delightful.  Next, apply a generous amount of petroleum jelly (can be found at any drug store). This will help to moisturize that perfect pout.

MAC Russian Red on Academy Award winning actress, Anne Hathaway
Ok, so step two is finding that perfect red that can be easily transitioned from day to night, casual to classic.  My fave? MAC Russian Red.  First rule with any lipstick is a great lip liner, and my go to liner is always MAC Cherry. This dynamic duo gives the perfect Miley lip - without the tongue.

Give this two step process a try and you are ready to for Sunday afternoon lunch or a Friday night out with the girls.

See you next week!

Forecast Friday: A BRIGHT FUTURE

Happy Forecast Friday! Before you start to predict your weekend plans, let's talk about the runways at NYFW that are about to explode with color!

Take a glimpse into AW 2014/15, we definitely are noticing a brighter fall than usual. Rich jewel tones and some spring-like colors will transition into our winter wardrobes this year.

Getting inspiration from the 70's, florals/nature, and folk-like patterns, the hues are deliciously decadent.

Throwback Thursday - Are You Jelly?

We will be throwing it way back today! Who remembers wearing jelly shoes as a little girl? I know I do! Who could forget the excitement of wearing their first pair of jellies! These sandals were popular back in the 1980's-1990's. For those of you who may not remember them, they were totally awesome, but don't worry about having missed out because their comeback will be even more rad than before. They came sparkly, classic black, platformed, glow in the dark, neon and even a heeled jelly. People wore them to the beach or paired them with some wicked overalls. They were my favorite sandals to wear and they are making a comeback this Spring/Summer 2014. Designers such as Madison Harding & Sophia Webster have done a great job recreating the jelly sandal with their new, chic and fun colored styles. You can style them with your favorite summer dress, a pair of high wasted shorts, a crop top with a flannel tied around the waste or even a pair of jeans. So girls, get ready to be inspired by your childhood memories of the jellies, yet in a whole new way!

Mens-day Wednesday: 3 Spring Must Haves

Being on trend this season fellas, it's easy as 1,2,3. Follow our simple rules, update your closet, and watch the ladies, swoon.

3. GO RED. Yes, it is National Heart Awareness Month and Valentine's Day, but this Spring, the color that graced the catwalks for men was RED! Just the right splash of color, whether it's in your V-neck or your sneakers will give you the instant boost of sexy. Keep the rest of your ensemble basic to be a trendsetter.

(GQ.com says "If you're going on a vacation—say, to Miami—that's the perfect opportunity to experiment with a new color. It helps you get more comfortable with the idea. Red is the color you should be trying out this season. Don't go red head-to-toe. Let it be an accent. Start out with a red windbreaker or polo. Later you can graduate to a red sweater or even a pair of red jeans. You might be thinking it's not a color for you, but, really, it looks great on everybody."

2. 50 SHADES OF GREY JEANS. Step out of your comfort zone and try grey denim. Pair with a graphic tee and a denim or leather jacket. Instead of black accessories, turn up the volume on your ensemble with brown accents. This look is fresh and just the right amount of hip.

1. SUIT & TIE. They say "Go Big or Go Home" right? Well this style tip defines the rules your grandfather grew up with. Learn to stack your patterns. Find a common color and add texture with printed fabrics that vary in shades of that specific color. Don't hate the player, hate the suit because this suit game is right on point. From Justin Timberlake to Usher, these Hollywood A Listers have been combining these stripes, patterns and prints for years, now it's your turn. Need some help? Check out Art Lewin's BeSpoke Suit Company in Beverly Hills. (Photo via Art's personal FaceBook page, we think his style is superb!)

Tuesday Shoesday: Mule Madness

Yep, they're back ! The return of the mule was practically inevitable.  Not too many could see these shoes cycling back in style (I surely didn't), but they have made quite the comeback! Designers such as Philip Lim, Fendi, and Victoria Beckham are revamping the slip on style into this springs chic, must-have item. With peep toes, ankle straps, animal hair, and all the colors your could ask for, you cannot go wrong wearing them this time around. Pair them with your best jeans and classic button up for a fresh, ladylike look or dress them up with a cocktail dress. They are this seasons most versatile shoe !

Makeover Monday: Go Natural and Naked

What is the first thing you look at when you meet someone? For me, it’s always a person’s skin. Seeing women who have that perfect glow – the ultimate envy. This year, screw all the makeup and get confident with a naked face!

Let’s be real. On a daily basis, we do things that aren’t necessarily the best for us  your skin regimen should never be one of them.  So, here are some guilty-free natural products that are a MUST-HAVE in your daily routine.

Rose Water with Glycerin
This is a great way to keep your skin hydrated. It’s calming and helps to get rid of unwanted redness. Ideal for those of you who have sensitive skin.

Castor Oil
I know this seems like a throw back to the 50's for a nagging cough, but did you know it has a 2014 purpose? Penetrates deeper than any other oil and helps to improve dry skin. But, don’t just stop with your skin - put a small amount in your hair to help with split ends!

Rose Hip Oil
If Miranda Kerr trusts this oil, then we all should! This helps to reduce scars and fine lines.

Add these new tips to your skin regime and you won't be disappointed. Well that's all for me on this beautiful Makeover Monday! Stay tuned for more exciting beauty tips, tricks, and must haves every Monday!

xoxo Kelsi
